Weekend Shenanigans

Hello friends!

Once again it's Monday so we're all sad that the weekend is over.  But thanks to the lovely Sami {Sami's Shenanigans} we get to relive the weekend by sharing our Weekend Shenanigans.
Sami's Shenanigans

Friday
Since my birthday fell on a Tuesday this year I decided to celebrate with friends on Friday.  I started the day off with getting my hair cut and had my hair guy style it for me so I didn't need to worry about it.  And I thought ahead and did a pony so my hair was pulled back.
The Pin I showed my hair guy.

My parents took me to dinner at Homestead for a fish fry which was amaze-balls as always.

They headed home around 9pm and that's when the party started for me.  I finally had my first {and second and third} shot of Fireball whiskey.  Holy yum!

Homestead has "after 9 Friday drink specials" which included $2.50 single Captain drinks so I strayed from my usual drink of choice to take advantage of the special.  In hindsight it probably wasn't my smartest choice.  But you live and learn, right?

Thanks to some friends I found my way home around 3:30am.  After dropping a contact in my intoxicated state and a short lived search party for it I hit the hay.

Saturday
One of my cousins graduated from high school earlier this month so I went with my parents to her graduation party.

It was a rough start to the day.  My mom kept telling me I still had the Captain flowing through my bloodstream but I just told her I was feeling sassy.  Who knows which was actually true.

After chatting with family for a couple of hours and enjoying some lunch we headed home where I made an indentation in the leather recliner.  Surprisingly I didn't take a nap.

I did enjoy some reading time.  For some reason I couldn't get into Pandemonium and I started reading a book we're borrowing from my grandpa.

Being a NASCAR fan isn't just for southern rednecks.

Sunday
I spent Sunday catching up on my blog reading, looking into Erin Elizabeth Designs, and flat out relaxing when I wasn't working on laundry.

I thought about cleaning my room.

But then I think, mmm...better not.

Well I should have and I need to but yeah, just wasn't feeling it.

Kind of like I'm not feeling work right now but I guess I can't change that.

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!

Weekend Shenanigans

If anyone told me about the weekend I was going to have I wouldn’t have believed them.  And by the way it started out I would have thought I was going to be right.  Once again, I don’t have actual pictures to share with y’all but I do have some screen shots of lovely conversations I had with my ladies over the course of the weekend.
Friday
Dinner with my parents at Phil’s Round 2 followed by some blogging at home before bed.  See... pretty uneventful start to the weekend.
Saturday
Saturday morning my mom and I went to the chiropractor and then did some shopping at Fleet Farm before picking up groceries for the week.  I spent the rest of the day reading blogs and watching TV.  I meant to read Delirium since my loan was ending but I just didn’t get into it until around 9:00pm when I was lying in bed.
Now here’s where it gets exciting.  Trouble [remember him from last weekend?] texted me around 10:00pm to see what I was up to and if I wanted to do anything. I ended up going over to his place where we talked for a couple of hours before heading out to the bar where we closed it down and then on to his uncle’s house for after bar.  It was around 6:15 in the morning before I went to bed.
It was during this time that I apparently sent quite a few snap chats to my BFF Chelsea, Kelley,  Jenn, Lex, and Kay.  I heard they were entertaining so that’s all that matters right?
Sunday
After sleeping for about 2 hours I headed home.
Funny thing is my mom didn’t know I had been gone.  She got up after I got home so it wasn’t until I said something that she realized I had only just gotten home.
Around noon I fell asleep on the couch and slept until around 4.  It was then that I woke up to a text message from Trouble inviting me to a cook out.  I ended up going and enjoying a few beers with him and his friends.
In hindsight I should have left after the cookout but I didn’t.  I ended up going to the bar and staying until 12:30am, which meant by the time I got home it was 1 in the morning.

My alarm came pretty quickly Monday morning and I was definitely not in the mood to get up.  But you gotta do what you gotta do to make that moola, right?
A couple of side notes from the weekend, I’m still working on Delirium even though I was notified that my loan has expired.  I just haven’t turned the wireless on my Kindle on yet so I still have it.  Anyone know if you can get late fees from e-books??
Also, there was mention of a birthday party that I was invited to already.  It's this coming Saturday night and I’m debating about if I want to go.  My parents might be going camping and I would love to go with them.  It is possible to do both but that would require driving up north myself and then back.  And I’m also not really sure if I should go because I’m pretty confident that Trouble will be there.  I think I might need to distance myself from him again.
Well, that’s all for now folks!  I’ll be back tomorrow with another book review.

Drinking, because it's fun!

Thanks to the lovely Kelley [One Hot Southern Mess] the topic today is bars.  More specifically, country bars vs. city bars.  Actually if we’re being completely honest here, we have to thank my supervisor at work for telling me that I wouldn’t meet Mr. Right in a bar, I needed to go to church.  Yeeeeaaaah.  He’s weird.  This strange exchange with my supervisor led to me telling Kelley about it, which led to us discussing meeting people in bars, and then we ended up comparing country and city bars a bit.  So now we’re here…with this post.
Ms. Chelsea's Birthday Celebration
The dress code is much more relaxed.
I know I know, there isn’t really a dress code in any bar other than the whole no shirt no shoes no service thing.  Well except on Halloween.  I’m pretty sure you can get away with almost anything on Halloween.  But at a country bar you can go out in whatever you please and not feel out of place.  Feel like getting dolled up? [I’m talking a little, not the whole 9 yards because then people will just wonder why you’re there.]  You can!  Feel like wearing yoga pants?  You can!  Jeans and a t-shirt?  You bet!  Seriously, you can wear almost anything and not feel awkward because you’re under dressed.
The drinks are cheaper.
Who wants to pay oodles of money to have a drink at a bar?  Not this girl!  I’d rather drink alone at home then because this chick has student loans to pay off and a new car payment [someday] so there’s no way I’m going to blow my money on expensive drinks.  And why are they more expensive anyways?  It’s the same alcohol last time I checked and yet drinking establishments in the city think they can charge you more?
Yummo drinks!
All music is good music.
More than likely the patrons at a country bar are in charge of the music that’s heard thanks to the good ol’ juke box.  As a result you hear all kinds of music and it’s awesome!  It’s not all country music but you bet your ass you’ll hear some.  The times I’ve been at city bars that didn’t have a band there was a DJ and I am pretty sure I can count the number of times I heard a country song on one hand.
No cover charge!
Seeing a band at a country bar = no cover charge!  I have yet to pay a cover charge to see a band play at one of my usual places.  I have however gone to see a band in town at a bar where I paid a cover charge even though I’ve seen the same band at a country bar and not paid.  You know it’s the bar then that’s invoking this cover charge.
Everyone knows your name.
Anyone think of Cheers when you read that?  I love going to one of my usual places because you know the bartenders and you know the other patrons.  Occasionally you’ll see people that don’t seem to know anyone stop in but we’re all friendly people so we don’t mind.  In addition to your name the bartenders know what you drink.  When I go out I love being able to just signal to the bartender that, yes I want another drink, but I don’t have to remind them what I’m drinking.  Any time I go out in town I’m constantly telling the bartender what I’m drinking, unless it’s a bottle of something in which case it’s pretty easy to guess.
There was great debate over what bar this was actually taken at for a while. Drinking will do that to ya!
I hope the next time someone suggests to go to a country bar when that’s not usually your scene that you don’t just wrinkle your nose up at the idea.  Try it!  You might be surprised how much fun you have while you’re there and will leave at the end of the night wondering why you never tried it out before.
**Disclaimer: I wrote this post based on my experiences with bars.  I live in Wisconsin where the bars aren’t hard to find and they outnumber churches.   So if you’re ever looking for a good time hit me up and I’ll show ya how we roll up here. ;) **

Now, for the first time ever I am linking up with the lovely Whitney from I Wore Yoga Pants to Work for backthatazzup Friday!  [Thanks again Kelley for suggesting I do this.  You truly are a genius!]

I apologize that it's not a cool little thing from groove shark but I have no idea how to do that.  Blogging novice at work here.

This song has something for everyone Chardonnay, Fireball whiskey, beer, margaritas....and the title pretty much sums it up in a nutshell.  It also seems appropriate for a long weekend.  Enjoy!

TGIF!!  Enjoy your long weekends!
