Weekend Shenanigans: The Gambler

This weekend was rather low key and I don't have pictures to share with you.  If you're a friend of mine on Snap Chat though you probably saw some pictures from Friday and Saturday night.  So rather than share pictures I'll share with you a song that could sum up my weekend.
After attending a Thirty-One party my aunt hosted Saturday afternoon I stayed at her house to enjoy an evening of adult beverages and some gambling.  We played games like Shut The Box and Right Center Left and I had a blast.  The only way it could have gotten any better is if I had won some of my money back.  Over the course of the night I lost $10!  Thankfully we were playing with quarters rather than dollars so it took me hours to lose those $10 rather than minutes.

The last time I gambled with my aunt and her friends was while we were in Illinois for the NASCAR race at Chicagoland Speedway last September.  We played with dollars then but I at least won once or twice.

Basically Kenny says it all when it comes to gambling...

You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when you're sittin' at the table.
There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealin's done.

After my night of gambling and drinking I spent Sunday laid up on the couch watching football and reading.  I need to finish The City of Ashes {Book 2 of The Mortal Instruments} so I can read the October BBC book once it's ready for me at the library.

Some questions for you...
Do you gamble ever?
How much are you willing to lose before calling it quits?

I'm linking up with Sami Shenanigans for Weekend Shenanigans.

Long Weekend Shenanigans

Hey friends!  It's Monday night and I decided to sit down and write about my long weekend so that tomorrow is free for me to post about curing #NOtivation so I can link up with Mallory {Mal Smiles} and two other ladies.

I went up north with my parents Friday night after work to camp at Cedar Falls. In this particular area of the north woods I have no extremely spotty and poor cell phone reception.  As a result I did not have my phone on me 24/7 so I took maybe one picture.

2011 camping trip photo

Saturday while my dad was out fishing with Bo my mom and I were at the campsite planning to enjoy some time reading around the campfire.  The only problem was there was no fire.  After my failed attempt at starting a fire my mom gave it a shot and was successful.  This was a moment of pride for my momma as it was her first ever campfire that she started so she requested I take a picture for her.

After my dad returned from fishing my mom and I headed to town to do a little shopping.  I ended up finding an awesome t-shirt for Chelsea {my BFF} and Dan {her husband} that I plan on mailing to them tomorrow.  I will be sure to take pictures of the shirts before sending them on their way to Maryland.

Once our shopping excursion was done and we were back at the campsite we headed out fishing with my dad and Bo.  My mom doesn't fish so she reads in the boat.  We successfully brought home three walleyes.  At one point my dad and I both had fish on at the same time which was rather exciting.

Sunday morning we headed home because quite frankly I think two nights with no power was enough for my mom and I.  Sunday afternoon was spent relaxing.

While we were at Cedar Falls my dad and I picked an ice cream pail full of choke cherries so we could make jelly.  After cooking them Sunday afternoon we were able to make the jelly this morning.  My grandma came over to help my mom and me out since we had never made jelly before.  And make jelly we did.  Our one ice cream pail full of choke cherries was able to make 3 batches of jelly!

A long weekend was much welcomed even though I just had a long weekend just a week ago.  If only we could always have long weekends am I right?

Did you do anything special for your long holiday weekend?
If you could have long weekends all the time would you?

Linking up with Sami for Weekend Shenanigans tomorrow {Tuesday}.

5 Words, 1 Weekend

Hey there friends!  Can you believe the weekend is over already?  Two days is just not enough weekend time for me.  But at least we can look forward to linking up with Sami to share our weekend shenanigans when it's over, right?

I took no blog worthy pictures this weekend.  Blogger fail.  But you know what?  I'm okay with it.  I enjoyed my weekend at home in yoga pants watching season 2 of Grey's Anatomy while reading blogs.  In particular I was reading one new blog I found thanks to Sami mentioning she met up with Mallory from Mal Smiles in this post here from last weekend's shenanigans.

I'm not sure what it was that caught my attention but I found myself clicking the link to Mallory's blog and have been hooked ever since.  I've definitely been inspired to get back on the Skinny Train {as Mal says} since reading Mal Smiles despite the imprint of my ass in the recliner that I made this weekend that would tell you differently.  Here's to hoping the inspiration sticks around and I can start making some changes to my life so I can start living a healthier one.  But more on that in the coming week(s).

I mentioned Friday that I had a mole removed Tuesday morning and that I was waiting to go back to the doctor a week later to find out the results from pathology.  Turns out I didn't have to wait because they mailed the results and everything was all clear.  Telling my BFF Chelsea the good news sparked the following conversation.

C: I am glad! Last person I would expect to have cancer is you. Me first.  {She tans more than I would like sometimes.}
A: Shush. I need to wear sunscreen tho. How many times did I burn last summer? {Really shouldn't harp on her tanning habit if I won't wear sunscreen, right?}
C: Haha way too many!! Ya vamp
A: Haha yes I am very white. I should go live in Washington where it rains a lot.
C: Lol you should!
A: Kasey Kahne is from Washington. Maybe I can find myself a hot race car driver then...
C: Lol umm yes! Get on that shit. And I get to go to all the races

For all of my readers who are not NASCAR fans here is a visual for you...

Kasey Kahne
Are those blue eyes not gorgeous?!  And speaking of Mr. Kahne, he finished 2nd in the Saturday night race at Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee.  I was rooting for him to pass Matt Kenseth {a driver from Wisconsin!} in the final laps but he just couldn't pull it off.  It was an exciting finish at least!

To put it in a nut shell you can sum up my weekend in 5 words: Grey's Anatomy, NASCAR, Mal Smiles.

What 5 words can sum up your weekend?
Sami's Shenanigans

I will see y'all back here tomorrow when I link up with Mal for my first ever Curing #NOtivation!

Tons of Weekend Shenanigans!

Wow has it been a hot minute since I've set foot in blog land to actually do some blogging!  After unexpectedly taking the last week and a half off from blogging I'm back with two weekends worth of shenanigans for you.

Weekend one is the more exciting of the two since I spent Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday night at Fudd Fest, a country music festival about 30 minutes from my home.

:one: People camp out all week at Fudd Fest.  These campers built quite the deck while they were there!
:two: Wednesday night I was able to see The Lost Trailers perform.  They put on a great show!
:three: Thursday night was Steve Holy.
:four: Our favorite part of seeing Steve Holy was hands down this guitar player! Ow ow!
:five: While hanging out in the pavilion (amazing bar on the festival grounds) we were lucky enough to spot the hottie guitar player and get a picture with him. {Not sure who the extra dude is, there was a miss communication as he was supposed to take our picture not be in the picture.}
:six: He was nice enough to take pictures with each of us individually as well!
:seven: Ronnie Milsap performed Saturday night while I was at the festival with my mom. My aunt who gave me the tickets (for free!) requested pictures so of course I took a few for her.
:eight: I ran into my friend Saturday after the show and ended up hanging out for a couple of hours in the pavilion with his group of friends and had a blast.

Now this weekend was spent at home helping my dad with our DIY home repair project.  We didn't get too far in the process because once we poured some cement and mortared some blocks back in place we couldn't do much.

Please excuse my poor photo skills, it was a spur of the moment decision to take some pictures.  And since all of this is way over my head this will not be a step-by-step how-to guide to fixing your garage.  Sorry guys!

Besides garage repair I also spent a good amount of time this weekend with my nose in my Kindle.  I was notified that my library loan on Gone Girl was up so I had to finish it soon.  Come back tomorrow for a review!

In addition to being notified that my loan was up on one book I was also notified that I could finally borrow Requiem by Lauren Oliver.  I am really excited to see how this story ends as this is the final book in the trilogy.

The best thing about this weekend is that mine isn't over!  I have today through Wednesday off from work.  I don't have big plans for today but tomorrow my mom and I are traveling to Minnesota to do some shopping and enjoy some good food.  We're spending the night at a hotel so we won't be back until Wednesday some time.  It will be nice to get away for a little while and have some girl time with my mom.

Be sure to head on over to the lovely Sami's Shenanigans as she is the host of this fun link up!

Weekend Shenanigans

Well if you're reading this we made it through Monday!  I usually write up my Weekend Shenanigans post Sunday night but I was out participating in some shenanigans last night so I held off.  I thought about getting up early this morning to write up the post but sleep won that battle.  Better late than never though, right?

.one. Saturday morning I was up bright and early to drive to Green Bay to go to the new Cabela's store.  The website said they opened at 8am.  Once we got there found out they didn't open until 9am.  So we waited in line for the doors to open.
.two. Bought myself a Wisconsin t-shirt.
.three. Tried on a Duck Dynasty hat.  It's on my Christmas list. :)
.four. Bought a new jacket.  I had a second jacket I was choosing between so I of course sent picture to my bestie for her thoughts.  I loved the look of the other jacket more but this jacket was a better fit for what I wanted to use it for.
.five. After two hours {yes, two hours!} at Cabela's we went down the street to Red Lobster.  I was adventurous and tried a pasta dish with a wine sauce {Shrimp and Scallops Linguine}.  Ended up not being my cup of tea.
.six. Thanks to the 4-course feast special going on I didn't starve despite not really eating much of my pasta dish and finished my meal off with a brownie and ice cream.  It was dang good!  I also recommend the Spicy Chicken Tortilla soup.
.seven. While in Green Bay we stopped at Target where I picked up a new Essie polish.  Sunday I finally took the time to paint my nails after they've been naked for a long time.
.eight. Mochacino is my new favorite color.  From their website, "Channel cafe cool with this perky gray lacquer with shimmer. A chic, sleek and simply modern nail that pairs well with any ensemble, from studded leather to designer suit."
.nine. Sunday night I went to see The Heat with my aunt.  Of course all of the popcorn didn't make it to my mouth.  This little guy held on some how until I got home.

Saturday night I went to the races with my mom and grandpa.  I didn't take any pictures but I did take a video or two that I might share sometime in the future.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!  I know I did!

Weekend Shenanigans FTW

Another weekend has come to an end and I'm wishing they were longer like always.  But I am really glad I have the awesome Weekend Shenanigans link up hosted by the lovely Sami to share with y'all today. {For The Win}  Even better is I remembered to take pictures to share!
Sami's Shenanigans

.one. I was up at the ungodly hour of 5:43am on Saturday for some unknown reason.  Thanks to checking social media I was up for good.
.two. I have been using my Scentsy warmer all weekend trying to use up Cinnamon Bear so I can try a new scent.  I've had this one forever!
.three. My mom brought home Peanut Butter Oreos.  Holy yum!
.four. Bo decided he wanted to sit on the chair rather than on my lap.  It was a tight squeeze.  Guess mom and dad should have got the seat and a half thing they looked at when they were shopping for the sofa and love seat we now have.
.five. I had my first Mountain Dew {or two} for the first time Sunday since Monday.  Guys, that's 6 days I went without soda...New Record!
.six. I've always known that I had a gray hair lurking on my head but last Friday I discovered I have multiples.  I just turned 23 y'all!  So Sunday night I decided to use the hair dye I had lurking in my bathroom cabinet to color my hair.

One of the most exciting parts of my weekend was once I was done helping my brother milk the cows {aunt and uncle went camping and milking is really a two man job} Saturday night I came home to find a package waiting for me.

Earlier this month Jen from That's What She Read reviewed Redesigning Rose by Lydia Laceby and gave away a copy to one of her lucky readers.  That lucky reader turned out to be me!  I was super excited to be able to read this book since it had been on my to-read list on Good Reads since Jen had first mentioned it on her blog.

I was stoked to see that Lydia had signed the copy she sent me.  I powered through the book in about 24 hours, finishing it Sunday night.  You'll have to wait for another edition of my Book Talk posts to find out what I thought of the book though.  {Unless you follow me on Twitter ;) }

Now that I've read Redesigning Rose I can get my nose back into my Kindle to finish A Walk to Remember so that I can get to reading Gone Girl.  It's been a while since I've had more than one book going at a time but when you're excited to read something you just go with it.

Hope all of you had great weekends as well.  And even though it's Monday {and no one likes Mondays} I hope all of you have a great day and a great week!

I'm from the country... [Weekend Shenanigans]

And I like it that way!

Tracey Byrd any one?

Friday night our whole family went to Homestead for a fish fry to celebrate my dad and aunt's birthday. There we no pictures from Friday night which my aunt is probably thankful for if you know what I mean.

Saturday morning Bo had his yearly check-up with the vet at 7:30am.  All checked out well with our 60 pound lap dog.  We made a pit stop at Fleet Farm to grab some treats for Bo and to kill some time before the chiropractor appointment at 9am.  The picture of Bo above is when we were waiting for my mom to be adjusted.  He was such a good boy inside the office.  He got a little excited when my mom came out but he settled right down after I left him.

The rest of my weekend was spent doing manual labor unloading hay.  Thankfully the humidity has been low so even though it's hot we didn't die.  We even re-enacted an AT&T commercial when talking about the breeze by saying, "We want more we want more. If you really like it you want more!"

Sunday we had a minor mechanical breakdown which resulted in a break so we headed home.  Because we were all sweaty messes full of hay we threw sheets on all of the furniture to protect it.  The Smurfs made an appearance and I brought new meaning to the term "hot mess".  If you look closely you can see the hay stuck to my forehead.  As a result of two days of manual labor I now have some color on my legs and some sunburn on my arms.  It only took me half of the summer to get some color.

Not a lot of shenanigans happened since I called it a night early Friday (unlike my aunt) and I was beat after Saturday's day of unloading hay so I didn't go to the birthday party I had been invited to.  But that doesn't mean I can't link up, right?

Weekend Shenanigans

Wow does this Monday ever suck?!  I can only imagine what you lucky ducks that had a 4 day weekend are feeling.  I only had Thursday off so my weekend was pretty normal in length.

But lets get to the good stuff, the shenanigans!

.one. My poor wrinkly fingers after processing 6 flats of strawberries Thursday morning.
.two. The carp my dad caught while we were out fishing on the beautiful day that was the 4th.
.three. Hot Fudge Sundae at 11am Saturday morning.  That was a "single" scoop.
.four. Reading The Wedding took up my Sunday when I wasn't napping.

I tried my hand at taking more pictures over the weekend and thought I was doing pretty well until I actually looked at the pictures I had.  Not very many.  But it's a start.

Some things not pictured from this weekend:
Seeing another Gordon Setter out on the water Thursday.  They're not a very common breed you see every day so of course we had to stop and say hello.
The family went up north Saturday and stopped at Maurice's and Wal-Mart, two stores we have around where we live.  We also ate a late lunch at Bucksnort Resort where I was adventurous and didn't get my usual cheeseburger.  I had a BBQ chicken wrap instead.
Saturday night I went to Homestead to celebrate a 21st birthday party.

Now it's back to work and I am really not looking forward to it but you gotta do what you gotta do sometimes.

Hope you all enjoyed your long weekends and got to spend time with family and friends!

Weekend Shenanigans

It's that time again!  Weekend Shenanigans with Sami is where we get to share our weekends and link up.

Sami's Shenanigans

Friday I started the weekend off by going out for a fish fry with my momma.  It was while I was enjoying a drink at the bar while my food was cooking that I realized I was missing one of the new Pandora clips I had gotten from my family for my birthday.

My heart fell to my stomach when I realized it was gone.  I had no idea if it had been lost at the bar, at home before leaving, or at work earlier that day.  There is nothing worse than not know when exactly you lose something.  You have no idea where to begin to look.

The rest of the evening was a relaxing one at home with family.

Saturday was all about relaxing for me.  USA Network pulled through for me and had an NCIS marathon on.  If you follow me on Twitter (which you should @LnLbyAmy) you may notice I tweet a lot about NCIS because I absolutely LOVE the show.  I mean, I do own every season (except for 10 which just finished) on DVD.

There was supposed to be a NASCAR night race on but due to rain it got delayed until Sunday during the day.  An interesting fact I learned during pre-race that I wanted to share is that Kevin Harvick burned more calories during a race (I can't remember which one specifically right now) than a NFL player, and a marathon runner.  Keep that in mind the next time you think race car drivers aren't athletes!

I did manage to leave the house to stop by my grandparents.  I needed to take my Christmas cacti to her to be revived over the summer and to pick up some yummy chocolate cake she baked.

Good thing I left my house because it was when I went to my car that I found my Pandora clip!

Sunday was a continuation of the relaxation but I also was productive.  I did laundry before it got out of hand and I was scraping the bottom of the barrel for clean clothes to wear.  Blogging and cleaning were accomplished as well.

NCIS was on again in addition to the rain delayed NASCAR race so I was a happy woman.  Lunch at Grandma's made me pretty happy too, not gonna lie.

Overall, the weekend was exactly what I needed.  I love weekends that I don't have plans and can just do what I want when I want.

Weekend Shenanigans

Hello friends!

Once again it's Monday so we're all sad that the weekend is over.  But thanks to the lovely Sami {Sami's Shenanigans} we get to relive the weekend by sharing our Weekend Shenanigans.
Sami's Shenanigans

Friday
Since my birthday fell on a Tuesday this year I decided to celebrate with friends on Friday.  I started the day off with getting my hair cut and had my hair guy style it for me so I didn't need to worry about it.  And I thought ahead and did a pony so my hair was pulled back.
The Pin I showed my hair guy.

My parents took me to dinner at Homestead for a fish fry which was amaze-balls as always.

They headed home around 9pm and that's when the party started for me.  I finally had my first {and second and third} shot of Fireball whiskey.  Holy yum!

Homestead has "after 9 Friday drink specials" which included $2.50 single Captain drinks so I strayed from my usual drink of choice to take advantage of the special.  In hindsight it probably wasn't my smartest choice.  But you live and learn, right?

Thanks to some friends I found my way home around 3:30am.  After dropping a contact in my intoxicated state and a short lived search party for it I hit the hay.

Saturday
One of my cousins graduated from high school earlier this month so I went with my parents to her graduation party.

It was a rough start to the day.  My mom kept telling me I still had the Captain flowing through my bloodstream but I just told her I was feeling sassy.  Who knows which was actually true.

After chatting with family for a couple of hours and enjoying some lunch we headed home where I made an indentation in the leather recliner.  Surprisingly I didn't take a nap.

I did enjoy some reading time.  For some reason I couldn't get into Pandemonium and I started reading a book we're borrowing from my grandpa.

Being a NASCAR fan isn't just for southern rednecks.

Sunday
I spent Sunday catching up on my blog reading, looking into Erin Elizabeth Designs, and flat out relaxing when I wasn't working on laundry.

I thought about cleaning my room.

But then I think, mmm...better not.

Well I should have and I need to but yeah, just wasn't feeling it.

Kind of like I'm not feeling work right now but I guess I can't change that.

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!

Weekend Shenanigans

If anyone told me about the weekend I was going to have I wouldn’t have believed them.  And by the way it started out I would have thought I was going to be right.  Once again, I don’t have actual pictures to share with y’all but I do have some screen shots of lovely conversations I had with my ladies over the course of the weekend.
Friday
Dinner with my parents at Phil’s Round 2 followed by some blogging at home before bed.  See... pretty uneventful start to the weekend.
Saturday
Saturday morning my mom and I went to the chiropractor and then did some shopping at Fleet Farm before picking up groceries for the week.  I spent the rest of the day reading blogs and watching TV.  I meant to read Delirium since my loan was ending but I just didn’t get into it until around 9:00pm when I was lying in bed.
Now here’s where it gets exciting.  Trouble [remember him from last weekend?] texted me around 10:00pm to see what I was up to and if I wanted to do anything. I ended up going over to his place where we talked for a couple of hours before heading out to the bar where we closed it down and then on to his uncle’s house for after bar.  It was around 6:15 in the morning before I went to bed.
It was during this time that I apparently sent quite a few snap chats to my BFF Chelsea, Kelley,  Jenn, Lex, and Kay.  I heard they were entertaining so that’s all that matters right?
Sunday
After sleeping for about 2 hours I headed home.
Funny thing is my mom didn’t know I had been gone.  She got up after I got home so it wasn’t until I said something that she realized I had only just gotten home.
Around noon I fell asleep on the couch and slept until around 4.  It was then that I woke up to a text message from Trouble inviting me to a cook out.  I ended up going and enjoying a few beers with him and his friends.
In hindsight I should have left after the cookout but I didn’t.  I ended up going to the bar and staying until 12:30am, which meant by the time I got home it was 1 in the morning.

My alarm came pretty quickly Monday morning and I was definitely not in the mood to get up.  But you gotta do what you gotta do to make that moola, right?
A couple of side notes from the weekend, I’m still working on Delirium even though I was notified that my loan has expired.  I just haven’t turned the wireless on my Kindle on yet so I still have it.  Anyone know if you can get late fees from e-books??
Also, there was mention of a birthday party that I was invited to already.  It's this coming Saturday night and I’m debating about if I want to go.  My parents might be going camping and I would love to go with them.  It is possible to do both but that would require driving up north myself and then back.  And I’m also not really sure if I should go because I’m pretty confident that Trouble will be there.  I think I might need to distance myself from him again.
Well, that’s all for now folks!  I’ll be back tomorrow with another book review.

Weekend Shenanigans

I'm finally getting around to posting about my weekend and I realized that not only did it take me longer than I wanted to get around to do this but I have no pictures from this weekend to share with you.  I don't know about you but I definitely enjoy being able to see a little bit of the weekend shenanigans as well as read about it them.

Anyways here we go!

Friday
After a long day at work I was more than ready to go out to dinner with my parents and grandparents.
I had my go-to drink, Cherry Dr. + Mountain Dew.
Coming out of the dinning area I spotted two lovely ladies I knew so I parked myself by them at the bar.
Then the dice box came out and we were teaching one of the ladies how to shake bar dice.  I don't even remember how many rounds we went.
Shooting stars were our shot of choice that night.  [Someone concocted them, not sure what's in them.]

And then trouble walked in the door.
But being in a good place [thank you alcohol] I ran right on over and said hello.
Actually, I ran right over and never looked back.  I parked my behind on a bar stool next to Trouble. [with a capital T]

When word got out that my parents were ready to leave soon I asked Trouble's friend if he would give me a ride home.  Once that was arranged I signaled in sign language across the bar that my parents could go whenever because I would find my own way home.

I was home and in bed before bar close and not even really buzzing.

Saturday
I slept until almost noon.
Then I threw myself together to head to town for some lunch, shopping, and a movie.
Dickey's is a new BBQ place in town so we thought we would try it out.  It was good.  Definitely was thinking about what I would get the next time I go there.

Next up Walmart.  Dear God I don't know why we went there on a Saturday.
Screaming kids everywhere!
Seriously, I lost it when some kid was screeching in the cart for no reason.

Fast & Furious 6 was amazing!!
Of course you know there is a 7th one to follow.  I can't wait.

While checking out at the grocery store I saw my supervisor from work.
I have no shame about turning around and ducking my head once I spotted him.
Once my mom was done checking out I made her walk between me and the check out lines and tried to hurry her along.
Trust me when I say this man and I have enough awkward going on at work already that we didn't need to add seeing each other outside of work to the mix.

Sunday
Being a bum was the name of the game Sunday for me.
I watched the NASCAR race, finished The Notebook [book], and baked some banana bread.
Before heading to bed I watched Trouble With the Curve.  Great movie.  Loved it!

And then I went to bed teary-eyed knowing my work week was a full 5 days and that the weekend was over.
It never lasts long enough in my opinion.

I'll try to be a better blogger going forward and take some pictures!

Weekend Shenanigans

If you didn't guess by the huge button up there I'm linking up with Sami to share my weekend shenanigans.

Sadly I don't have a bunch of pictures from my weekend to sum it all up for you so my words will have to do.

Friday night after work I met up with my parents, brother, uncle and his girlfriend to eat dinner.  Fish Fry Friday = fish for me.  It was delicious as always.  And mmm, those twice baked potatoes were amazing!

I ran into some friends in the bar area and since I had my own car (I came straight from work) I ended up hanging out until about 12:45am.  An unexpected late night but sometimes unexpected is a good thing.

Saturday my mom, brother, and I hit up town to do a little shopping.  I wanted to get The Sims 3 for the Wii, which I did.  {Highly addicting FYI!}  We also got a new DirecTV remote since the one upstairs is a bit touchy with the 2, 6, and 9 button {all buttons we use a lot}.

My mom and I some how managed to convince my brother to let us eat lunch at Olive Garden.  He had steak and potatoes but the seasoning wasn't his thing.  I told him I wouldn't ever make him go there again since he was nice enough to try it.  {My mom & I are the only ones who really like what's offered there so we don't get to eat there as often as we like since more often than not it's not just the two of us in town.}

As I mentioned before The Sims is highly addicting so you can guess where I was all afternoon and evening.  I surfaced from the basement only to eat dinner.  Well that is until I decided to go out.  My friend Lauren bar tends so I stopped by for a drink before checking out another bar where a friend was DJ-ing/running karaoke   It ended up being pretty quiet there so I headed back to the bar Lauren works at for one more drink before calling it a night.

Sunday I slept until noon, something I haven't done in a long time.  I meant to read but never got around to it because I was hooked on watching Alpha Dogs on Animal Planet.  Then of course we found a Duck Dynasty marathon on so we had to watch that.  I am fairly confident I have seen all of the episodes from season 2 at least twice now.

And as always I went to bed wondering where the weekend went.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Do you ever get hooked on TV show marathons or video games so you're sitting for hours watching/playing?

Weekend Shenanigans

I would say happy Monday but let’s be honest, no one is really happy that it’s Monday.  I know I’m not.  Especially when I found out it was raining this morning which means it’s the perfect day to lay on the couch under a blanket with a good book or movie.

To add fuel to my Monday hating fire only about the first 30 minutes of work were really busy.  Since then I’ve been checking Twitter and reading up on some blogs on my phone.  Thanks to all of the blog reading I was doing I saw everyone posting about their weekend shenanigans and decided I wanted to join in on the party.  So here we go!

Friday after work I went to Phil’s Round 2 with my parents for a fish fry {it’s a Wisconsin thing ;) }.  It had been 2 weeks since I had their fish so I was especially excited about going.  The whole meal is just amazing; from the coleslaw to the fish, to the beer battered French fries!

Coleslaw gone, Fries hiding under the fish :)
Saturday morning I woke up to fresh snow on the ground.  Despite the fresh snow on the ground it was time to pick up flea and tick medicine for Bo to help prevent him from getting any as it warms up and through the summer so my parents and I left earlier than normal for our chiropractor appointment in Antigo to make a pit stop in Birnamwood to visit the vet’s office.  We also traded in our empty case of glass bottles of Sun Drop at the grocery store there for a new full case.

Mom and I had chiropractor appointments at 9am but thanks to our pit stop in Birnamwood being so quick and the roads not being terrible we arrived early for our appointments so we were adjusted and out of there before 9am.  Since we were in town we stopped at Wal-Mart for a few things.  I ended up picking up some makeup removing cloths, a file organizer for work (which I forgot to bring with me today), Venus razor refills (those suckers are expensive!), and Breaking Dawn Part 2 on DVD.

We hit up the grocery store next.  I added a few things to the cart like Skinny Cow ice-cream bars, frozen meals I can microwave for work, minced garlic, and Mrs. Dash Garlic & Herb seasoning.  Those last two items I was most excited about because I would be making Garlic & Herb Beer Bread with them once I was home.

Our final stop was Fleet Farm for a new collar for Bo.  The one he had was beginning to fall apart.  We went from blaze orange with a reflective strip to red.  There’s something about a red collar on a black dog that just looks sharp if you ask me.

The first thing I did when we got home was start baking my beer bread.  I got the recipe from Jen who blogs over at That’s What She Read {Go check it out, it's awesome!}.  I didn’t follow her recipe exactly because when I was mixing everything together I was following the original recipe for plain beer bread and I wasn't paying attention didn’t realize that for the Garlic & Herb Beer Bread it changes slightly.  Everything still turned out pretty darn tasty though so I would say it was a success!

A lot of lounging around the house watching TV or reading HP #2 occurred after that until I made a last minute decision around 8:30 to go to Homestead to see a band (Tuscan Road) play.  I knew the band would be playing weeks prior but I hadn’t fully committed to going until that night.  I decided I would go without specific plans to meet anyone there.  I figured I would know at least some one there, and I was right.

It wasn’t the most fun I’ve had on a night out but it wasn’t the worst either.  After stopping at one other bar with some friends I called it a night and was home by 2am.  Bo even came to snuggle in bed with me for a little while which was nice.  He used to sleep with  me every night when he was younger {HA! I say that as if he's old, he's only 2!} but then I think he changed his mind about that arrangement after I went out a couple of nights and wasn’t around for him to go to bed with.  He now sleeps with my parents every night.

Sunday was a beautiful day as far as weather went but my yard was a mess thanks to all the melting snow and rain we had gotten the day before {yup, it snowed in the morning and was raining in the afternoon, wonderful Wisconsin weather}.  I took advantage of the nice weather and cleaned out my car.  My mom volunteered to vacuum my car for me which I was grateful for since that’s my least favorite part of cleaning a car.  My car is now ready for someone to buy.

My mom got a new vehicle {GMC Terrain} a couple of weeks ago so we’re selling the car I’ve been driving since I was 16 and I am driving the car that was my mom’s until I buy a new vehicle of my own.

I also did some much needed laundry.  It seems as though the laundry fairy skipped my house a week or two so I was in desperate need of doing laundry.  I meant to do some other chores around the house but I was lazy time got away from me so that didn’t happen.

I ended the weekend on a great note watching the Academy of Country Music Awards (ACM).  The first hour or so was awesome because Chelsea was texting me throughout.  But with her being on the East Coast she called it a night before they were over so I lost my texting buddy.  It was through our texting conversation that our friendship was once again solidified {not that it needed it!} because we would be thinking the same thing about so much of what was going on during the ACMs.  It’s almost scary how much we’re alike.
Only BFFs can have this kind of conversation :)
My man Jason Aldean won Male Vocalist of the Year (Go Jason!) and my other man Luke Bryan won Entertainer of the Year (Yay Luke!) so it was a great night.

What were you up to this weekend?
