Random Thursday - Top 3 Books Turned Movies

Happy Thursday everyone!  It's about time it showed its face.  Tuesday felt like it should have been Thursday to me so it's been a long time coming that Thursday actually got here.

With Thursday comes The Vampire Diaries, The Big Bang Theory, and Grey's Anatomy in addition to Random Thursday with Em, Lin, and Meg.  This week's topic is pretty awesome since I love to read and I love to watch movies (especially good ones over and over again).  I like it even more when books I've read are made into movies.  Sometimes the movies aren't as good as the books but sometimes the men cast in the movie more than make up for it.  Oh that's only me that thinks that?  Oh well! :)

Top three books turned movies...why only three??  I've found I have difficulties narrowing any kind of favorites list down to a certain number.  I'll give it my best shot though.

Note: these are not in order of which one I like better, this is simply a list of three books turned movies that I enjoyed.  I'm sure by reading all of the other Random Thursday posts I will find some that I forgot about that  I loved just as much (or more).

1.  The Twilight Saga --  There are many opinions on these books and movies.  Personally, I loved the books and have read them multiple times because of it.  I found the first two books before they became the "it" thing to read.  I couldn't put the first book down and finished it in one day.  You could say it sucked me in and wouldn't let me go until I finished it.  and then it was on to the next one and so on.  Definitely not the best thing for a college student since I put aside homework in favor of reading these books.  The movies are pretty well done in my opinion.  I'm one of those people that will usually always pick the book over the movie though so of course I like the books better.  But when I need to get my Twilight fix in a fast and visual way these movies do the trick.

2.  Charlie St. Cloud  --  When I found out there would be a movie made after the book I requested it immediately from my library.  I definitely like reading books before I see the movie that's made based on them.  And this one did not disappoint.  I really enjoyed the book.  It didn't hurt that there was a new cover on it featuring Zac Efron who played Charlie in the movie.  The movie did a pretty awesome job of following the book in my opinion.  Having Zac as the leading man definitely didn't hurt anything either!  (Can you say hottie?!)  I own the movie and have watched it multiple times.  I have also read the book twice.  I definitel recommend both to anyone looking for a good book turned movie!

3.  Harry Potter  --  I've read all of the Harry Potter books at least once, some more than once.  I'm even currently re-reading the series.  I would be farther along than just the second book had work not decided we are no longer allowed to read books during down time at work.  But anyways...I have only actually watched the first movie in its entirety.  That being said I still think the movies (from what I've seen of the others) do a really good job of bringing the books to life.  I plan to eventually see all of the HP movies.  Maybe even own them since I'm sure now that they've all been made there will be some big box set where you can buy them all on DVD.  Crazy to think that I own the first one (somewhere) on VHS.  Yeah, the series started that long ago already!  Makes me feel a little old.

I'm also a big fan of Nicholas Sparks books and movies.  Who doesn't love A Walk To Remember (hello Shane West!!), The Notebook, The Lucky One (again, hello Zac Efron!!), and Dear John?  I haven't actually read A Walk To Remember or The Notebook, probably because I saw the movies first.  I really want to see Safe Haven!  I read the book and honestly loved it until the end.  I wasn't a big fan of the ending but you can't love them all, right?  Has anyone seen Safe Haven?  What did you think of the movie?

This was a really fun post to write.  I enjoy talking about books and movies and it gets even better (usually) when books are made into movies.  Thanks ladies for the link up and a great topic!

  1. I really enjoyed Safe Haven, but hated the movie. It was so different from the book. Once you see the movie you'll have to tell me your thoughts on the book.

  4. I'm so glad you had fun with this topic cause that's what it's all about ;)

Havent read the Twilight books or seen the movies, I'm kinda sticking to my guns about this one cause I have a grudge against Kristen Stewart for being such an awful actress haha. I do love me some Harry Potter though!
